PEDIATRIC PHYSIOTHERAPY
K-TOWN Kids provides physiotherapy services to kids and youth aged 0-18 to help develop, maintain, and restore maximum movement and functional ability throughout development.
What it is? An hour information session with a registered physiotherapist who will educate new and expecting parents on what Torticollis and Plagiocephaly are, things to look out for to help identify these conditions early, and basic strategies to help prevent or correct. The session will also review major gross motor milestones and windows for expected ages to reach those
milestones. Many first-time parents compare their little ones at baby groups and get worried their little one is falling behind, or the opposite occurs, and a child is not progressing, but parents are unsure if they should be concerned.
This session will give parents knowledge to help identify if a baby is developing his or her gross motor skills on a typical trajectory or if they are significantly behind and should be assessed by a health care professional. This information session is not an assessment of your individual baby. This is an educational session only and would not be covered through extended health plans as there is not an assessment component. If you have concerns about your baby’s head shape or gross motor skills it is always recommended you speak with your family physician regarding those concerns.
If you would like your baby assessed, please call the clinic to set up a Well Baby Assessment with one of our registered physiotherapists.
This service would be appropriate if you have concerns with your baby’s head shape or believe they have a head tilt or if your physician has diagnosed them with torticollis or plagiocephaly. If you are concerned with your child’s gross motor development, a standardized test can be completed to establish their baseline and give you direction on the next milestone they would be working towards. We can also identify if your child’s skill level would warrant a referral to the public system to be assessed by a developmental pediatrician.
For ages 1-6 years old. If you have concerns with their gross motor development, gait, or alignment. Orthopedic conditions for this age group; sprains/strains/post fracture/post surgery. Children with cerebral palsy, down syndrome and other genetic disorders, autism, and developmental coordination may benefit from private physiotherapy services to work on
your family-centered functional goal.

Lindsey Haussler has experience with the sport of gymnastics as an athlete, a coach, and a judge. With her knowledge now as a physiotherapist in combination with her experience in the sport K-TOWN KIDS can offer your gymnasts a specialized assessment to help identify areas of weakness, tightness, and/or hypermobility. This detailed assessment is to help PREVENT injuries for competitive gymnasts. Gymnastics is a very physically demanding sport on an athlete’s body. While repetition gives the gymnast consistency and confidence in a skill it can also cause a repetitive strain injury or create long-term damage if the skill is being performed using faulting body mechanics. After a thorough assessment, Lindsey will provide suggestions for exercises to be added to your gymnast's conditioning program.
If your child has sustained a concussion they should be first assessed by your family physician. It is normal for children to have symptoms for up to 4 weeks. If your child is having neck pain we can do an orthopedic physiotherapy assessment of their neck within the first 4 weeks. During this assessment, the physiotherapist can guide you on standardized return to learn and return to sport guidelines.
If concussion symptoms persist beyond 4 weeks a more detailed post-concussion assessment can be completed by a physiotherapist who has post-graduate training in assessing and treatment of persistent post-concussion symptoms. This assessment will assess the client’s vestibular system, visual motor system, visual ocular reflex and neck. If symptoms are persisting beyond 4 weeks there is usually a dysfunction in one of these systems. If identified physiotherapy may be able to help. The physiotherapist will identify these dysfunctions and set up a rehabilitation program as well as guide you through return to school and return to sport guidelines.
